Welcome to Ayers Animal Hospital, where we treat your pet as our own. Dr. Mark Ayers and his associates are licensed veterinarians, treating small companion animals and pocket pets. Your pet's health and well being is very important to us and we will take every step to give your pet the best possible care.

Ayers Animal Hospital is a full service animal hospital, and we are equipped to handle emergency cases as well as non-emergency medical, surgical, preventive health and dental cases. Dr. Mark Ayers, Dr. Candie Baker, Dr. Amber Lilly, and Dr. Elizabeth Cherry are experienced in all types of medical, surgical and preventive health conditions. Beyond first rate pet care, we make our hospital comfortable, kid-friendly and provide a very calm environment so your pet can relax in our spacious waiting room and look forward to meeting his or her own personal veterinarian.

We have a number of resources for you to browse through that will help you learn about how to better care of your pets. The best veterinary care for our patients is always changing.   • Dr. Mark A. Ayers

    Dr. Mark A. Ayers is the owner and founder of Ayers Animal Hospital, Inc.  Dr. Ayers graduated from West Virginia University with high honors and with a BS degree in animal science.  He is a 1979 graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Ayers founded Ayers Animal Hospital, Inc., after purchasing the practice of Dr. Harry 'Bert' Willet in 1983.

  • Dr. Candie M. Baker

    Dr. Candie M. Baker joined the team at Ayers Animal Hospital in January of 2009.   Dr.  Baker went to Morehead State University for Pre-Vet and is a 1993 graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Baker’s dream growing up on a 200 acre farm in Olive Hill, Kentucky,  was to be a veterinarian.

  • Dr. Amber Beth Lilly

    Dr. Amber Beth Lilly was born and raised in Huntington, West Viginia.  Dr. Lilly graduated summa cum laude from Marshall University with a BS degree in Biology in 2006.  She received her doctorate from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and then moved back to the tri-state area to be near family.  She is licensed in both West Virginia and Kentucky.

Please call ahead to schedule appointments 7 am - 8:30 am grooming, boarding drop off time. Doctor appointment hours are 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. No Doctor or appointments on Saturdays, open only for boarding pick up or drop off, and purchasing products from 9-11 am. Sunday Boarder ONLY pick up 2-3 pm. We are closed on all major holidays: New Years, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. After hour Emergencies please call Tri-State Animal ER 304-453-5700.
